London Anime & Gaming Con and GAME raise the stakes with their Gaming Tournaments for a Kick-Ass Weekend. Popular community-focused convention to include access to 100+ video games and stage 12 top-tournaments with almost £1,000 in prize support as GAME are confirmed as sponsors for it’s tournament zone.

With the sponsorship of retail-giant GAME and supporting publishers, London Anime & Gaming Con has announced that video game tournaments will play a bigger part than ever before at this year’s event as part of their drive to bring the Video Gaming community together for two amazing days in Islington, London.

Fans of Japanese Anime, Cosplay, Manga, Karaoke, Video Games and J-Culture will come together to celebrate their passion by meeting celebrity voice talent, costuming, enjoying the live events, browsing the exhibitor halls and much more over this two-day community-focused 18+ event.

At this year’s event, the gaming community will be invited to take part in the GAME Tournaments Zone. Twelve free to enter tournaments will test gamer’s skills to the max with almost £1,000 worth of prizes up for grabs with GAME and various gaming companies supporting. Fame will be assured to each winner as they go up on the Community Hall of Fame complete with award certificates. Tournaments will include League Of Legends, Street Fighter IV Arcade, Minecraft, Halo 4, Dead or Alive 5, Call of Duty 4, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, DDR, Marvel v Capcom 3, Blazblue and more. The gaming community will be further catered for with the now-infamous Gaming Quiz with hardcore gaming questions, fun and random gaming challenges, gaming-inspired musicians and the Sunday Video Game Party, as well as several gaming new areas including the Gaming Community Lounge, Retro-Zone, Indies Zone, Gaming Publishers and the GAME Tournament Zone. There will be over 100 games to pick from at the event.

Further solidifying the link between cosplay, J-culture and video games, PS4 Attitude, the philanthropic PlayStation news and reviews website, has once again been announced as a media partner for this year’s event. They will be working with the event to help raise money for the convention’s nominated charity, GamesAid, which aims to raise money for disadvantaged and disabled young people.

“We have always been about bringing people together, our focus not on business but on the community and having fun. With many new gaming areas to chillout in and an exciting community tournament lineup supported by GAME, this will be exciting and rewarding for all our attendees. All of us supporting a great charity like GamesAid is the icing on the cake”, explains Michael Towers, organiser of London Anime Con.

London Anime & Gaming Con; is still the Home of UK Cosplay

There will be a major expansion of cosplay at London Anime & Gaming Con this 8-9 February as part of the event’s ambition to become the home of UK Cosplay. Even more emphasis has been placed toward building the Cosplay Community, Stars, Events and photography with over 12 hours of Cosplay content take place on stage alone. Highlights include –

#1. Cosplay Masquerade; £100 First Prize, Free Photoshoots & GAME supported prizes- Make sure not to enter the cosplay contest on the Sunday with a first prize of £100 for the winner and a free printed photo courtesy of Real Time Events for each participant to be taken afterward. All entrants will also be invited to relax and network afterward with the Cosplay star Guests and Cosplay community. You can go signup for the masquerade here. As if that was not enough, GAME will also be sponsoring with the Masquerade this year, offering a separate prize of a choice of any two games worth up to £110 total for the best Gaming-related Cosplayer.

#2. Cosplay Stars & Talks – There will be twelve of the most renowned cosplayers in the UK guest-starring at this year’s event. This includes the likes of StaceyRebecca, Kelly Jean, ArtyFakes and many more (full list here) who between them have won many cosplay awards across the UK and the world. As well as having tables in the cosplay zone, they will host talks on community, costume-design, prop-making, modelling and performance.

#3. Fun and Creative Cosplay Events – Including the Cosplay Auction where you put yourself up for bid to raise money for GamesAid (info here), the Cosplay Blind-Date where you make friends or find your valentines sweetheart before the big day (info here) and The Cosplay Mashup – a fun variety show featuring a series of mini-games of anything from making a cosplay out of random items to improvised dance-offs. Cosplayers and attendees are also welcome to enter the Otaku Fashion Show sponsored by Spirit Models, who will be in attendance scouting for talent.  The show encourages you to voice your unique style ranging from; Lolita, steampunk, Goth or another signature style that expresses your individuality (more info here)

#4. The Cosplay Community United – Community has always been the key focus for Cosplay at the event and it’s being given even more emphasis this year. Many of the UK’s top Cosplay guest stars and groups will come together with the attendees during socials and events. Whatever your level of Cosplay ability, professional or fun, the Cosplay at London Anime & Gaming Con has something for you.
